bbj — Ghomala (bbj)
This datasheet is for cv-corpus-25.0-2026-03-09 of the Mozilla Common Voice Scripted Speech dataset for Ghomala [bbj - bbj]. The dataset contains 7514 clips representing 12.75 hours of recorded speech (12.29 hours validated) from 31 speakers, recorded from a text corpus of 997 sentences.
Language
Ghomala is a Central-Bamileke language of the Grassfield-Bantu sub-group. It is spoken in the Mifi Division, West Region of Cameroon.
Variants
The Administrative Atlas of Cameroon's Languages (Breton and Bikia Fohtung 1991) lists four dialectal areas for the Ghomala language:
North Ghomala which comprises Fu'sep (of Bafoussam) and Lang (of Balong) varieties
Ngomba also known as West-Ghomala which comprises the Mugum (of the Bamungum), the Meka (of the Bameka) and the Monjo (of the Bamenju) varieties
Central-Ghomala which has the following varieties : Jo (of the Banjun), and Yegam (of the Bayangam)
South Ghomama which comprises Te (of the Batie), Pa (of the Bapa) and Denkwop (of the Badenwkop)
